Why Your 5 to 9 Matters More than Your 9 to 5

If you are a typical employee who works from 9 to 5, chances are that you think that these are the most important hours in your life. You might hate it, but it is still important.

Usually, you might believe that what you do from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday matters more in your life. But here’s the ugly truth, it doesn’t. We just spend 40 hours or so a week in a cubicle to get our paychecks, but what do we do after that? Now, that is a question everyone needs to ask themselves.

For a person, who works from 9 to 5, getting back home is like a ‘release of freedom’ from the disguised prison called the workplace. However, once you get, you are engulfed in the world of chores, end up in the bedroom, and then get back to the 9 to 5 routine.

I am not going to talk about weekends, because those are the only two days in a week where we get to rest, unwind, relax and be ourselves in our pajamas. But for the other five weekdays, what you do in those after-work hours could actually matter.

Building Your ‘Garage’

Did you know that most multi-billion dollar firms including Apple, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Amazon and Google all began their journey in a garage? The founders of these ‘startups’ back then were all regular employees like you and me.
