“I know, people lower their standards when they grow older.”
This was one of my favorite lines from A Walk in the Woods. I had already published a story about dating in your late 20s, but when you enter your thirties and forties, I know it will get worse and frankly, I could very well see myself being single for quite a while.
Why? I would never lower my standards especially when it comes to a relationship. I have chosen to be vegan and childfree and it is impossible for me to give up any of these just for a relationship. But those are not the only standards I would look for, there is in fact a lot more than that.

A few days back, I was on the phone with one of my relatives. And before I knew it — Bam! There came the question!
People ask this question like I could go to a supermarket and buy a girlfriend. Then, I am left with the option of asking them to mind their own business or explaining my situation to them. I mostly do the latter, but I guess I should start doing the former more.
