Member-only story
Whether it was Nelson Mandela’s Long Walk to Freedom or Saroo Brierley’s A Long Way Home, I have always found it hard to put down a book once I start reading it, when it is an autobiography. I have read many biographies and while I must admit that they are informative, I should also say that they have never appealed to me as much as autobiographies.
As I am writing this story, I just placed an order for A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. This made me think why I love autobiographies that much.
Learning From Others’ Experiences
I don’t know if I am going to fight for someone’s freedom, but I always wondered how it would feel doing so. Even if I have a chance to experience it myself someday, I would cherish those experiences comparing them to Mandela’s.
I had already written a story highlighting the importance of learning from others’ experiences. That said, I also love watching movies based on real life stories. However, when you read something that is written by someone who experienced it first hand, it is enthralling.
