Every year, more men die of suicide than women. I could not find proper statistics for international male suicides, but the analogy is relatable between various countries. In Canada and Australia, men die of suicide three times more than women. In the USA, it is 3.5 times more, and it is 4 times more in Russia. This is because women may attempt suicide, but when men decide to attempt it, they take it seriously and their methods are fail-proof. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, middle-aged men top the list in numbers when it comes to age-groups.

Male Suicide and Depression

According to expert psychologists, depression is the major cause for male suicide. Yes, that’s a known fact, and you could find a ton of stories on the internet that give advice on how to ‘cure’ or ‘handle’ depression among men. But what we miss is the source of this depression.

Most men are depressed because of society. Career-oriented pressure, marital pressure, natalist pressure, name it and you have it. There is a link between male suicide and depression, but what you are not told about is the root of the cause.
