It just dawned on me today that I am going to be 28 soon, and ten years ago still seems like yesterday. I remember getting my driver’s license when I was 18, and as the old saying goes, I thought that the world was my oyster. Well, it turned out to be everything else except that. Being a misfit never helps either.

I was single when I was 18, and ever so single now. But let me tell you something: I am really happy about this. 10 years earlier, I had no idea where I was headed to. Now, I still don’t know, but I at least got the ball rolling. Being born and raised in India, I know for a a fact that if I still lived there, I would at least have 10 different people asking me this question every single day.

“So, why aren’t you married yet?”

Well, I was 26, I had enough, and that’s when I decided to take a one-way ticket to Canada. Never looked back, and I should say I’ve never been happier. I read this article a couple of days back. When I saw the title, I thought it was some cliché romantic article, but it turned out to be otherwise. It’s a great thing to fall in love with someone you like and even get married before you are 25. But then, there are also people like us who are late bloomers.

Age is just a number; anyone can do anything they want, whenever they want. Dating when you are teenager is different from dating when you are in your 20s. But from my experiences and other people’s experiences, there really seems to be a huge difference in perspective between dating in your early and late 20s. Believe me, they are two completely different things.

So, I put down some points and came with the idea of this comparison: the good, the bad and the ugly of dating in your late 20s.

The Good

“I’m honest about the journey I’ve been on, so I definitely don’t take dating lightly anymore.” — Demi Lovato

If you’re in your late 20s, you’re probably saying “Amen to that, sister!” after reading Demi Lovato’s quote. And that’s true, because we have all been on a hell of a journey. Empty…
