If you know me personally before reading this article, you might be wondering how a person like can make a decision to be child-free when he/she is still single. For the most of us, it is not easy finding a soulmate who wants to be child-free as well, because there is only a few of us who make that decision.

But believe me, we are not left alone by the vast majority of baby-boomers. Child-free individuals are often bombarded with weird questions that in a few cases, even invades their private space. This might sound funny, but frankly, there are more weird questions that cannot be discussed here.

1. Do You Have Fertility Issues? I Know a Good Doctor!

This is the most common question we encounter, especially if you have your roots from a country like India, where I was raised. The moment two people (who don’t even know each other) get married, the parents of these two expect them to have a baby immediately. If this does not happen in a few months, this question pops up.

“We are as fertile as an oasis in the desert.”

It is our decision to be child-free by choice. And no thanks, we do not want to visit a fertility doctor, whatever that means! Instead, we would like to visit a doctor who can do a vasectomy or a tubal ligation. Don’t you know what that means? Good!
